Desert Storm 1991 Tri border point in Saudi Arabia near the Wadi Al Batin the first of two AVRE's explode. Perforated ears all round and track link flying over 2kms. The largest bit of the tank left was the gun mantle, the rest vapourised. Each tank was armed with 40 x 165mm HE, 10,000 rounds of .30, 2xBoxes of PE4 and accessories, 2x66mm rockets, 10 grenades and 1000 litres of petrol. One hell of a bang.

Many thanks for that, I was that chap. I ended up in a field hospital having a bit of scrap removed from my legs and stomach and then was transferred to Al Jubail (camp 4 area) hospital for recovery. Ended up getting back to the Wadi Al Batin and finally on the first push into Iraq with the troop. It was a surreal short war. Hope you liked the photos. Fine lads they were.
