I vividly recall when with 50 Sqn the Drumhead Remembrance Day service held on board the Sir Tristram in 1982, very moving. can't remember if 3 Sqn also attended with us though?
This picture was taken while it was moored on the opposite side of Stanley Harbour about July or august 82. It was then towed over to Port Stanley harbour and moored. It was used as an accommodation ship for a while and the smell of the burnt innards was terrible. Never knew there was a remembrance service held on it, but 3 Sqn personnel definitely stayed on it.
