Please feel free to tell me what to write here as I know nothing about this unit.  Peter Luscombe has emailed me to say "After amalgamation in summer 1993, and transferring to under command Vehicles and Weapons branch REME in Chertsey 8 MAG (RETS) continued to be manned by Royal Engineers until Vehicles and Weapons branch itself was subsumed into a support branch in HQ QMG sometime in the late 1990s. RETS was responsible for bringing into service and supporting in service all the Sapper funnies. (Trackway, bridges, water supply, petroleum, boats, ferries, engineer ‘C’ vehicles, etc) while 8 MAG was responsible for maintenance support of general service plant (forklifts etc) and ‘C’ vehicles when in common use by other arms."
