Hi Gordon I'm afraid I was not a sapper just an ACC cook, but served my time in 38 Regt, first in 15 Sqn then transferred to 11 Sqn to tour Shajah January 1969 to October of the same year.
11 Sqn was formed from 73 Sqn late 1968 73 Sqn had previously returned from Aden in about 1967; 48 Sqn relived 73 in Aden then returned to Ripon and Along with 32 Sqn who had returned from Borneo, made up the Regiment. For my part I did play rugby for 38 regt at open side Flanker, under the captaincy of Mike Stancome later to become Col Mike Stancome ably assited by no 8 Lt Andy Hoon to become Brigadier Hoon both playing for combined services Mike Stancome being their captain. Best wishes Mike Davey
