Ray and I joined the Army together on the 1st of April 1970 (started training the following day. He got posted to BAOR and I stayed in the UK. He applied to join 59 Independent Commando Squadron and was successful , I think in 1972, I received a letter from him in May -June 1973 saying he was in Malta on Exercise and how good the bars were, I think he mentioned the "GUT" being of particular interest.

The next thing I hear that he had been killed in Rome, I think he was on leave.

Can anyone shed any light as to what happened please
