I was a Craftsman assigned to TA HQ 30 Engr Bde (V) which was based at Kitchener House, Lamerscote Road, Stafford. I have many a good memory about my service with this Bde, as well as my VM training I was also fortunate to also take up Sigs training as there were Sigs attached to the Bde. Sadly, whilst on the ranges at the Wrekin I dislocated my left patella, this eventually lead to the termination of my service. As a result of the injury and 18 lots of surgery upon the knee, in 2012 my left leg was amputated above the knee and as a result I am now confined to a wheelchair. It left a very bitter taste in my mouth with how I was terminated from the military. I have very fond memories of the officers, NCOs and ranks within the Bde, those from REME like myself, or from the RE or Sigs, absolutely amazing ladies and gentlemen, lots of fun and laughs but also a lot of hard work and dedication by all. Despite what happened to me, if I had the chance to do my service all over again, knowing the outcome, I absolutely would. Thank you to all I had the privilege to serve with, you continue to live on in my fond and painful memories, and I hope you all the very best, Arte et Marte.
