Chesterfield

73 Engineer Regiment (Volunteers) is a Territorial Army (TA) Regiment within 49 (East) Brigade. It is commanded from its Headquarters in Nottingham. The Regiment comprises of some 517 Territorial soldiers with a small staff of Regular Army soldiers and civilians. It recruits mainly from the surrounding counties of Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire with locations in Nottingham, Derby and Chesterfield.

Role
73 Engr Regt (V) has been in the Air Support Role since 1993. Prior to this it was a Combat Engineer Unit in support of 1 (British) Corps. Air Support Engineering (support to the Royal Air Force) has been an Army task undertaken by the Royal Engineers since 1969 and includes support to Air Bases, Harrier jets and Support Helicopters. The Regiment is currently preparing to deploy volunteer troops on various oversees operations and exercises, including Afghanistan and Cyprus.
